Topic: The Milwaukee Method of Creative Placemaking

Description: Sara Daleiden of MKE<->LAX will share about her collaborative work with the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the City of Milwaukee, and other cultural leaders on the Milwaukee Method of Creative Placemaking. Working with a diverse set of aligned public and private partners, she believes a creative placemaking culture can accelerate sensitive development through facilitating collaborative engagement to create sustainable solutions for neighborhood development issues. She focuses on each neighborhood’s characteristic qualities, on creative civic gathering places connected as a trail network, and on platforms for community exchange among neighbors. She identifies and supports local art and cultural talent to co-lead neighborhood engagement processes and strengthen as an entrepreneurial leadership network of civic innovators.

Bio: Sara Daleiden focuses on cultural production and exchange through creating social interactions in developing landscapes. With bases in Los Angeles and Milwaukee, she offers support for empathetic, structural development of identity embracing various scales of experimentation, connection, and production. Initiatives and platforms encourage active interpretation and embodied exploration of local places valuing public space, civic participation, economic sustainability, pedestrian awareness and celebration of difference.
