Brooke Helstrom is a senior double-majoring in environmental studies and philosophy, politics & law, and is also a first year master’s student in environmental studies. Brooke spent last semester studying in Botswana and the summer working on conservation issues in Montana. She is a trip leader for Peaks and Professors and editor-in-chief for the Global Women’s Narratives Project. Her current research projects include evaluating the feasibility of the UN Sustainable Development Goals for the city of Los Angeles, and the role of natural resources in armed conflicts of Southern Africa. She is a fellow for the USC-UNESCO Journal for Global Humanities, Science & Ethical Inquiry, for which she also serves as Deputy Editor. Brooke enjoys looking at the stars and saving spiders from untimely deaths.
