Jonathan Bates is a second-year Masters of Public Policy student at USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. Born and raised in Champaign, Illinois, he studied economics and political science as an undergraduate at Illinois Wesleyan University. He worked for two years as a transportation and procurement analyst for Caterpillar, Inc. before moving to Los Angeles. Jonathan is particularly interested in affordable housing and criminal justice policy, with a focus on data analysis methods for policy research. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, reading biographies or science fiction, and watching the Chicago Blackhawks.
